A majority of patients with work-related injuries only require conventional physical therapy and will quickly return to work. Once in a while, as a result of being out of work for an extended period of time, the injured worker becomes deconditioned and their endurance to handle the critical job demands is impaired.
For those patients that are not able to return to work yet following an injury after acute physical therapy due to such problems, ProActive has developed a Work Conditioning program. This program specifically addresses the deficits in strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, and function to achieve a full return to work in a short amount of time as possible.
This program utilizes physical conditioning and functional activities that are specifically related to the individuals critical job duties. The program is provided in multi-hour sessions ramping the patient up to the regular job demands.
The objective of work conditioning is to restore to overall functional ability of the individual back to the level in which they can perform their critical job tasks during an 8 hour-day/40 hours work week without restrictions.
